A routine abdomen sonography, also known as an abdominal ultrasound, is a non-invasive medical imaging procedure that utilizes sound waves to generate real-time images of the organs and structures within the abdomen. During the examination, a transducer is moved over the abdomen, emitting sound waves that bounce off internal organs and tissues, creating echoes. These echoes are then translated into detailed images displayed on a monitor, allowing healthcare providers to assess the condition of organs such as the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, kidneys, spleen, and intestines. This imaging modality is commonly employed to diagnose a variety of abdominal conditions, including gallstones, liver disease, kidney stones, abdominal masses, and fluid accumulation, offering valuable insights without exposing patients to ionizing radiation and causing minimal discomfort.
